Best Tip For Exchanging Wedding Rings
The exchanging of rings is an essential part of traditional weddings. The wedding ring is symbolizes eternity. It is a circle with no beginning or end, an emblem of love and devotion, and also considered an agreement between families.
Unfortunately, many times the wedding photographer is unable to get a good shot when the bride and groom are putting the rings on each others’ hands. The couple isn’t usually considering how the moment will look on camera, understandably so, because many things are going through their minds at the time. The least of which is the camera angle of the rings.
Often times a person keeps their hands over the others’ after putting their ring on them. If your hands are blocking the shot when put on your fiancé’s ring, there’s nothing the photographer can do to get a good shot of it, short of stopping the ceremony to adjust your hands, of course.
If you want a good photo of that moment be mindful of your hand placement. Hold your partner’s hand so that the photographer can see it.
Consider doing something like lowering your hand below theirs after the ring is on so that the photographer can see the top of their hand and the ring, or whoever has just put the ring on could cradle their partner’s hand in their own and showcase it to the audience. Small adjustments like this can make the difference between having a nice shot and having no shot at all.
Since the bride’s left hand will be the furthest away from the audience and photographer, it’s a little harder to expose her ring. That means the groom will have to make extra effort if he wants her ring to be visible. Simply raising her left hand above her right and tilting it slightly so that her ring finger is higher than her thumb will help. It’s easier to catch the ring going on the groom’s finger because his left hand will be closest to the crowd.
Simple right? Well compare the photos above to the photo below.
Big difference! You can’t even see the wedding ring in the photo above. This happens far too often.
If you’re not concerned about getting a nice shot of the rings going on the fingers, this might not be a big deal. But if you’d like to capture a good shot of that special moment, this is a tip that will improve your wedding photos and the effect lasts forever. I hope it helps.
