John & Taylor Hunter got married on April 8, 2017. Their wedding was held at The Grand Oaks Resort – the home of the Florida Carriage Museum. It’s located at 3000 Marion County Road Weirsdale, FL 32195. I am fortunate to have been their wedding DJ. They were a nice couple who seemed very happy together. Their wedding venue was great too. And the venue’s marketing director, Julianne, was extremely helpful on the wedding day.
The Grand Oaks Resort is unique because they have a very large variety of carriages to in their museum. From what I understand, they rent at least some of them out to brides who want to arrive at their ceremony in a horse and carriage. I got to see the museum briefly, and I have to see it’s quite a collection. It’s a private collection too. It was the first time I’d been there. It’s astonishing to continue finding new wedding venues I’ve never been to, after working at so many. The Floridian Manor Estate gives you a feel of being somewhere else. Not only somewhere other than Central Florida, but also in another time. It’s got an old-time feel but doesn’t seem run down or anything, which gives you the best of both worlds of a modern wedding and an old fashioned one. Continue reading
Weddings are a lot of fun, but they’re also a lot of work! They can be stressful with so many things going on at the same time, and so many people fighting for the attention of the bride and groom. Weddings bring people from both sides of the family together as the two families join as one. Unfortunately, all too often wedding couples are forced to decide between spending extra time with their photographer or making their families wait while they embark on a long photo shoot. On February 18th, 2017 I had the pleasure and honor of DJing Bella’s 10th birthday party at The Abbey in Orlando, Florida. The Abbey is a great venue due to its central location near downtown, amazing decor and ambiance inside, and helpful staff. They ran audio cables to connect to my sound system that allowed the music I played through my speaker to also be played through their house speakers.
